Sóbis Silent About Future

Brazilian forward Rafael Sobis has returned to Andalucia to begin training with his club, Real Betis, although his future remains in a cloud.

Rafael Sóbis has touched down in Seville with a bronze medal in hand from the Beijing Olympics with the Seleção and he is eager to rejoin his clubmates to begin training for the new season.

However, the 23 year old’s future at the Ruiz de Lopera is uncertain, with coach Paco Chaparro stating that he does not see the forward fitting into his game plan for the upcoming campaign, but club owner Manuel Ruiz de Lopera insisting that he will remain with the verdiblancos.

According to Marca, Sóbis himself has declined to comment on his future, instead declaring that he is happy to let Betis make the first move before deciding on a possible departure.

Speaking about his Beijing excursion, the former Internacional man revealed: “It’s disappointing not to return with the gold medal, but once you lose in the semi-finals, it’s important to at least win the bronze. Still, it was a memorable experience.”
